Our story
How a street became a home

Haengabell Close is more than a street address. It is a place built by family, for family. Seven lots, six households, three generations — all connected by love, history, and a shared decision to stay close.

The name brings together two families, the Haengas and the Bells, but the street belongs to everyone who calls it home. The Tosos, the Peters, and every child who has grown up running between these houses.

It was built in memory of those we have lost — Tamati, Lynne, Bear, Trevor, and Rangi — and every day that the family gathers here, they are present with us.

⚙️
How the draw works
1
All 9 entrants are loaded into the draw pool, covering a mix of couples and individuals from across Haengabell Close.
2
The pool is randomly shuffled using a Fisher-Yates algorithm, producing a completely random ordering every time Draw Names is pressed.
3
Every assignment is checked against three rules: no one draws themselves, no one draws who they had in the last 3 years, and Marina and Renard can never draw each other as a permanent couple rule.
4
If any single assignment fails a rule, the entire draw is discarded and reshuffled from scratch. This repeats up to 5,000 times until a fully valid result is found.
5
Results are revealed one at a time. Tap each green card to reveal who that person or couple is buying for. The draw can be cycled as many times as needed before confirming.
6
Once the administrator confirms, the result is locked for the year and cannot be changed. The 2026 column in the history table is updated automatically, rolling into next year's constraint window.

Retired entrants (marked *) are kept in the history for record purposes but are not counted as active constraints in future draws. The amber tag on each revealed card shows who that entrant has bought for in the last 3 years so the family can verify the result is valid.
